Communicate to the Lost

C. Hayden 12-10-17

This advent season, we have been examining this idea of communication; Biblical communication.  While many Christians and non-Christian cultures alike are currently preparing to celebrate one of the all time greatest events in all of history, the birth of Jesus Christ, many people overlook the fact that it is an account of God communicating His peace and love to a lost world.  Luke 2 gives an account of the open lines of communication being brought via angelic voices to lowly shepherds in the field: 8 “Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:8-14).
God was (and still is) communicating to these shepherds, and to the world, that He does not hate us but loves us.  He was also letting us know that the wall that had separated mankind from their maker, a wall that brought silence from God for over 400 years, has now been done away with.  And what was the signifying mark of this heavenly communication? It was none other than the baby Jesus Himself.  The Babe in a manger was God’s billboard telling all of us that God has peace and goodwill for all willing to turn from their sin and come to Him.  What a wonderful message the angels brought to us!!!  It is this same message that we, as God’s people, need to take to the rest of mankind.  We need to be inviting others to come to the Lord also.  As Luke 14:23 says, “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” God calls His Church to communicate to the world the message of “Joy to the world the Lord has come.  Let earth receive their King!.”

Would You Rather

Would You Rather
C. Hayden 11-10-17
In this episode of the “Pastor’s Blog”, we are going to play the “Would You Rather” game. When playing the Would
You Rather game. You have to first set up the background subplot in which the question is asked so that an
informed decision can be made. The Would You Rather question is this. Would you rather be traveling the open
seas on the most luxurious Carnival Caribbean Cruise Ship, or would you rather be sailing aboard the most modern
of US Naval Aircraft Carriers??? Now here’s the subplot that may help you determine your choice: You live in the
midst of a world war, the enemy
is moving to and fro everywhere, and
you never know when or where
he might attack next. The enemy is not
concerned with what type of
vessel you are on, he wants only to kill,
steal, and destroy, and our foe
will not hesitate to devour any and all
he has opportunity to do so.
Be blessed even more!!

What A Tremendous Honor

What A Tremendous Honor
C. Hayden 10-24-17
We have been given a tremendous honor. An honor that so many overlook, choose to remain ignorant
regarding or just downright reject. An honor treasured by angels and one that men and women of God throughout
history gave all to be a part of. Unfortunately, it is an honor God gives that many continue to run from in favor of
living only for the things of this life. That honor is to be in the service of the King and fulfill the very purpose and
calling given to each one of us by God Himself.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
says, “
if anyone
is
in Christ,
he is
a new
creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
18
Now all things
are
of God, who has
reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
19
that is, that God
was in Christ reconciling the
world to Himself, not imputing
their trespasses to them, and
has committed to us the word
of reconciliation.
20
Now
then, we are ambassadors for
Christ…”
Every believer in
Christ has been called to build
bridges between the Creator
of the universe and His
creation – mankind. God’s
Word tells us that we are to be
His ambassadors, His hands
and His feet so that a lost
world can find their way out of
darkness and into our Father’s
wonderful light. Imagine
yourself lost in an underground
cave where no light exists and
the rays of the sun cannot
breach. A place where the
darkness is so prevalent and so
permeates everything so that you could never find your way out – permanently trapped with no hope of
discovering the surface again. That is where those without Christ find themselves. Some realize they are lost not
knowing how to exit this underground prison and live in despair. Others have come to embrace the darkness and
live in ignorance of the chains they bear. Regardless, God has given you the honor to go into this dark world with
the light of the Gospel of Christ to rescue those perishing, bringing them to the surface and into His brilliant glory.
His Word is your Lamp; His Spirit is your fuel that keeps the lamp burning. Some may follow us to the surface and
some may reject our invitation and remain in the dark. Regardless of the choice others make, you have been given
a tremendous honor, an honor that God chose you to fulfill (
John 15:16
). And what a tremendous honor it is! Don’t
run from the Calling God places before you, rejoice in it!
Be blessed even more!!
