With a New Year comes new goals, it’s always interesting when I go workout and for the first couple months of the year it’s full of people I’ve never seen before or that I haven’t seen for a long time. Not only do people make weight loss resolutions but some people try and kick bad habits, be more positive, save more money, and the list goes on and on. Goals are a good thing, they can be tough to achieve at times but that’s all part of it, once you do succeed the feeling is oh-so-good.

Not only is the New Year a good time to set lifestyle goals, but it’s also a great time to put the past behind you and keep your focus on the now. There are many things that I have done in my life that I wish I’d never done, and there are many times that I wish I could take back something I said or even the way I treated someone, you can’t change what has happened however, you do have a choice if you will dwell on the past or if you will give it over to God and move forward.

If you feel stuck in the past and have done something that is eating you up inside, and if you are being weighed down by regrets, now is the perfect time to hand it over to God and allow Him to set you free. Holding onto sin, or even the “what ifs” of life is similar to walking around with a ball and chain strapped around your leg, it will bog down your joy and peace. The enemy wants nothing better than for you to live with regrets, he wants you to miserable, after all, he’s here to take you out.
Over two thousand years ago the only human who has lived a sinless life humbly hung on a cross so that all of our sins could be washed away.
Jesus Christ wants us to let go of our regrets, He wants us to place the “but this and but that” at the foot of the cross, if you will just take the weighted vest off, your life will be so much lighter, you will feel like the reset button has been pushed. Give everything over to God and if you are looking for the best New Year’s goal, I encourage you to make the resolution to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ daily.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Blessings!
